A sample legal agreement between a performing arts organisation and a Stage Manager for a theatre production.

Performing Arts Organization: [Organization Name]
Stage Manager: [Stage Manager Name]

This contract (“Agreement”) is made and entered into on the date of acceptance by the stage manager, and is by and between [Organization Name] (“Producer”), and [Stage Manager Name] (“Stage Manager”).

1. Engagement:
Producer hereby engages stage manager to render services as the stage manager for the theatre production of [Production Name] (“Production”). Stage Manager shall be responsible for all stage management aspects of the Production, including but not limited to rehearsals, technical elements, and performance management.
2. Deliverables:
Stage Manager shall be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Execute a well-planned stage management plan to ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience of the Production
- Coordinate a smooth functioning between the artistic and production team of the Production
- Attend all rehearsals and performances as scheduled by Producer and/or the Director
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information and materials related to the Production
- Adhere to professional standards of conduct and behavior at all times

Producer shall be responsible for the following deliverables:

- Provide stage manager with the necessary scripts, character descriptions, and production plans
- Provide stage manager with a schedule of rehearsals and performances in advance
- Pay stage manager the agreed upon compensation in a timely manner
1. Timeline:
The term of this Agreement shall commence on [Start Date] and shall continue until [End Date] or completion of the run of the Production, whichever occurs first. Rehearsals shall take place from [Rehearsal Start Date] to [Rehearsal End Date]. Performances shall take place from [Performance Start Date] to [Performance End Date].
2. Compensation:
In consideration for the services to be rendered by stage manager hereunder, Producer shall pay stage manager the sum of [Compensation Amount] per week. Payment shall be made on a biweekly basis. stage manager shall also be entitled to a share of the net profits of the Production, as determined by Producer in its sole discretion.
3. Termination:
This Agreement may be terminated by either party at any time, for any reason, upon written notice to the other party. In the event of termination by Producer, stage manager shall be entitled to receive compensation for all services rendered up to the date of termination.
4. Confidentiality:
Stage Manager shall maintain the confidentiality of all information and materials related to the Production, including but not limited to scripts, character descriptions, and production plans. stage manager shall not disclose any such information to any third party without the prior written consent of Producer.
5. Indemnification:
Stage Manager shall indemnify and hold harmless Producer, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents, from any and all claims, damages, or expenses arising out of or in connection with stage manager’s performance of services under this Agreement.
6. Governing Law:
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of [State].
