A sample legal agreement between a performing arts organisation and a Choreographer for a theatre production.

Performing Arts Organization: [Organization Name]
Choreographer: [Choreographer Name]

This contract (“Agreement”) is made and entered into on the date of acceptance by the choreographer, and is by and between [Organization Name] (“Producer”), and [Choreographer Name] (“Choreographer”).

1. Engagement:
Producer hereby engages choreographer to provide choreography services for the theatre production of [Production Name] (“Production”). Choreographer shall be responsible for all choreography aspects of the Production, including but not limited to creating and rehearsing dance routines.
2. Deliverables:
Choreographer shall be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Attend all rehearsals and production meetings as scheduled by Producer
- Submit a written report on the choreography of the Production to Producer by [Report Submission Date]
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information and materials related to the Production
- Adhere to professional standards of conduct and behavior at all times

Producer shall be responsible for the following deliverables:

- Provide choreographer with the necessary scripts, music, and production plans
- Provide choreographer with a schedule of rehearsals and production meetings in advance
- Pay choreographer the agreed upon compensation in a timely manner
1. Timeline:
The term of this Agreement shall commence on [Start Date] and shall continue until [End Date] or completion of the run of the Production, whichever occurs first. Rehearsals and production meetings shall take place from [Rehearsal Start Date] to [Rehearsal End Date]. Performances shall take place from [Performance Start Date] to [Performance End Date].
2. Compensation:
In consideration for the services to be rendered by choreographer hereunder, Producer shall pay choreographer the sum of [Compensation Amount] per week. Payment shall be made on a biweekly basis. Choreographer shall also be entitled to a share of the net profits of the Production, as determined by Producer in its sole discretion.
3. Termination:
This Agreement may be terminated by either party at any time, for any reason, upon written notice to the other party. In the event of termination by Producer, choreographer shall be entitled to receive compensation for all services rendered up to the date of termination.
4. Confidentiality:
Choreographer shall maintain the confidentiality of all information and materials related to the Production, including but not limited to scripts, music, and production plans. choreographer shall not disclose any such information to any third party without the prior written consent of Producer.
5. Indemnification:
Choreographer shall indemnify and hold harmless Producer, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents, from any and all claims, damages, or expenses arising out of or in connection with choreographer’s performance of services under this Agreement.
6. Governing Law:
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of [State].
